About Me

Who Am I?

First and foremost I'm a researcher. I love investigating complex problems and creating plans to try and solve them. I do my best to examine everything, including my own thoughts and behaviors, through a critical lens. It's my firm belief that every system can be improved upon, it's just a matter of how well you can understand the various components and the approach you take towards solving any issues.

I began my journey into the world of user research while working as a software tester for Epic Systems Corporation. While I happened to just stumble into the field, since the first usability study I ran, I've absolutely loved every aspect of it.

To solidify my research skills, I joined the University of Washington's Human Centered Design and Engineering Master's program and graduated in the spring of 2020. This program allowed me to explore a huge variety of topics including app design, games UX, VR development, and many more.

My Research Philosophy

Having a background in Psychology, my original approach to research was very experimental. In order to learn anything, you need to isolate your variables, collect quantifiable data, and base your conclusions off statistical analyses. While I still believe this is a fantastic system, I've since realized that it's simply one tool available to use among a plethora of equally viable research methods.

Speaking broadly, I believe that the best approach to research is User Centered Design.

However, while this a great general process to follow, I believe that research needs to be flexible and tailored to every individual problem.
